An evergreen-deciduous mixed forest in various stages of succession makes up the remainder of the wooded portion of the property. A 2 km trail loop passes through a range of upland habitats and skirts several ponds and wetlands. This is a moderately easy hike for those wanting a longer walk. Some time in the late 19th century this farm was cleared and consisted of many small fields bisected by frequent rock outcrops and occasional wetlands. Add to this the shallow, coarse soils and its viability as a traditional farm probably lasted only a few decades at most. Natural regeneration augmented by our rehabilitation efforts is gradually returning the forest cover and associated plants.
